‘The nature of Love is life and art,’

Hadewijch

Art, like silence, and like contemplative practice, restores us. Contemporary artist Louise Bourgeois affirms, ‘… the idea is to repair the damages … to make something that is fragmented – into something whole’. Art endeavours to translate the inner word into outer expression. Art balances pain and provides an alternative to brutality. When we engage our creativity, we deepen our humanity.

Spiritual Direction/Companioning shares with art similar aims: to provide a channel for expression of the inner word, and to heal into wholeness, creativity and growth.
